I just wanted to say a word about last weekend. It was my best friend’s birthday, so I felt like posting something “in her honor”, lol…
She invited her closest friends to her house, and we had a lot of fun!
I wish her the best!

Holidays March 7, 2006
During my Carnival holidays I stayed here, in São Paulo. My parents didn’t want to travel because when this holiday comes, everybody likes to go on a trip (so the city is pretty much empty) and they really like that. You can go anywhere you want in 10 minutes because there’s no traffic, it’s great!
It’s a 5 day holiday.
On the first day, I went to the movies with some friends, and we watched “The Pink Panther”. It doesn’t bring anything to our life, but it’s a really funny movie. Especially because the actor exagerates his French accent during the whole film.
The next day, my friend Dafne came over. We went to the shopping mall, and we practically spent the whole afternoon eating at our favorite restaurant!
On third day, I was the one who went to her house. We stayed at pool, and of course, we went once again to the shopping mall =P
It was really fun, because we didn’t have enough money, and we had to ask for discount in eeeeverything! We got to buy tickets for the movies for less than half price! Candies for 2/3 of the original price, and free water at McDonalds… =P
I slept over at her house, and I went home early the next day because she was going to the beach.
That day, I started doing my homework and reading the book “La Civilisation, ma Mère!” which I find pretty much interesting. The problem is we have way too much homework and I can’t finish it!
On the last day, I hanged out with my cousins that I hadn’t seen in a while. It was all fun!
I enjoyed a lot these days…it’s a pity that it’s over now!
Back to hard work…
ps: I took this picture on a beach on the coast of São Paulo. I just put it there because I love landscape pictures, and I don’t really like Carnival.
Brazilian… February 13, 2006
Answer to the following comment:
“Hi Klara, interesting post – especially about the ethnic mix which makes you Brazilian! Is there such a thing as being Brazilian? Do you feel Brazilian? Do you feel you have smething in common with other Brazilians, and of so what?

What characterizes Brazil is this mix of nationalities. We must remember that Brazil is a colonized country, and that before the Portuguese arrived, this area was occupied by tribes. Later on, other Europeans came here searching for better life conditions (wasn’t exactly what they found). And those who owned large areas “imported” slaves from Africa.
Today, Brazil had the sixth largest population in the world. So we can imagine the big mix there was, and still is!
It’s hard for me to answer if I do really “feel Brazilian” because I’ve only been living here since 2001. I didn’t grow with other Brazilians because of my father’s job (he used to be a diplomat). I visited many other Brazilian cities, and they are all so distinct!
So, DO I feel Brazilian? I think it’s a question that will probably take me a couple of years for me to be able to answer…
About Me February 11, 2006
Ok, well… Here I am.
First of all, my name is Klara, I was born on May 17th, in São Paulo. My dad has Chinese origins while my mom is European. So this mix makes me a Brazilian.
I’m really bad at describing myself, but I’ll try. (I’m going to copy most of the things from my Orkut profile )
I’m a pretty complicated person. Sometimes I just can’t tell who I am. Maybe this is what describes me best: not being someone specifically.
I love writing (certainly not about myself), talking with friends, laughing (who doesn’t?).I can also be really selfish and stubborn sometimes, but in general I’m happy and willing to help whoever needs me. I am somewhat stressed when people go against me and can’t bear injustice or intolerance.
During school time, I spend most of the time worrying about doing something wrong, or about forgetting something. This makes me exausted by the end of each week.
In my spare time, I like to admire landscapes (something kind of hard to do in the city of São Paulo) and think about life and the challenges it keeps bringing me.
Ok so…that’s me in a nutshell!
